A pro-Israel Muslim

One Muslim Zionist says he's proud to be pro-Israel, as he asserts the accusations against the Jewish state are "laughable" and far from the truth.

Hafeez, KasimKasim Hafeez, who grew up in the U.K. with Muslim parents of Pakistani origin, tells OneNewsNow he heard anti-Semitic views from his family that taught him to harbor hatred for the Jewish people. He was often told that Israel was responsible for countless murders and atrocities, that Adolf Hitler was a hero, and that Israel had no place in the Middle East.

Hafeez went on to join the Islamic Society at Nottingham University and even made his way to Pakistan to become a terrorist. But his perception changed when he picked up a copy of The Case for Israel by Alan Dershowitz. He then took a trip to Israel that changed his life.

"You see every kind of person -- Muslims, Christian, Jews, Druids -- living their lives and playing full part in the state," he says about Israel, "and that's just an incredible thing. You don't see that anywhere else in the region."

He realized that what he had been taught about Israel was wrong.

"It's about changing people's perception, and it's about making people realize what an amazing place Israel is?... and what an amazing country it is," Hafeez contends. "It really is a beacon in a very dark region, sadly."

The Muslim Zionist now travels the globe sharing his experiences and his love for Israel. He hopes his story will help debunk the rhetoric used by the country's opponents.

He encourages people to ask themselves what they stand for -- democracy and freedom, or?extremism and totalitarianism. "If you are a rational person, the answer is simple," he concludes.
