Suppose you had a Masters degree in Engineering, but since graduation, you have worked for 1 year in the Software field (because you couldn?t get an Engineering job at that time). Unfortunately, you lost your software job due to layoff or firing & this time you are finding it extremely hard to find a new software job because you don?t have an advanced Computer degree ? just some industry experience. At the same time you are not able to get an Engineering job either becuase you lost touch with your Masters degree and skills you gained from that degree. In this situation what would be your next step?

Have you really decided what you want to do with your degree? If not, apply for a position as an intern in a company that deals in oversees business? to broaden your scope. Unless you have no interest in your field of choice then you seem too young to have lost touch. Is this truly your calling?
An aside, if you are still in your twenties then there are many government positions available for volunteers who want to offer their knowledge in third world situations. Might just get you into a different frame of mind?
