The?Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Gregg Gelb, starts up its 2012 -13 school-season in little over a month and registration for auditions is now open. Auditions will be on 9/4 & 5 at?Marsh Woodwinds, 707 N. Person St., Raleigh. Go to?http://www.philharmonic-association.org/?to register. This all-star big band for High School and advanced Middle School students from the Greater Triangle region meets every Sunday, at 3pm ? 4:30 at Marsh Woodwinds. This past season?s group performed at the?Cary Arts Center,?ArtsPlosure, the?NC History Museum?and received an award as one of the top three bands at the?UNC-Chapel Hill Jazz Festival.
The 2012 summer-season ensemble played a concert on July 4 at the State Capitol Building in Raleigh and will perform at the new Cary Arts Center on Aug. 12 at 4:45, free admission
The 2012 ? 13 school-season includes these events:
- Concert @ Cary Academy on Oct. 22
- Concert at Cary Arts Center on Nov. 4
- Concert for NC Music Educators Assoc. on Nov. 12 at 1pm in Winston-Salem
- Record for Jazz at Lincoln Center?s Essentially Ellington Competition
- UNC Chapel Hill Jazz Festival, Feb.
- Jazz Appreciation Month Concert, TBA, April
