Are you tired of the same old boring bathroom but you don?t have the time or money to devote to remodeling? Try these home improvement tips on how to transform your bathroom on a budget. Just a few small alterations can brighten up your bathroom in no time.

5 Cheap Ways To Turn Your Bathroom Around

Before You Begin?

Before you go out and start your journey to create your brand new bathroom, it?s important to have a plan. Do you already have a set color scheme in your bathroom? If not, you should definitely come up with one. Knowing what colors you want to use helps you narrow down your choices when it comes to remodeling anything. If you already do have a color scheme, are you going to keep it or throw it in and start with a new idea? Also, you should note the size of your bathroom when considering bathroom remodeling. If it?s fairly small, you don?t want to create such a cluttered atmosphere that you feel cramped when you climb into the shower. If it?s large, you don?t want too many little odds and ends to make it appear scattered and unorganized. Check out some of these bathroom decorating ideas and see if they?re the right fit for you.

1. Buy A New Shower Curtain

One major change that can cost you less than $20 is a simple swap of your shower curtain. Whether you?re changing the color scheme or sticking with the same, getting a new shower curtain will provide a nice change of atmosphere. When shopping for a new one, don?t forget the wattage of the lights used in your bathroom, because you don?t want to get a curtain that?s so heavy it blocks the light so that you?re showering in the dark (that is, if there?s no light directly above the shower).

2. Find Matching Towels

In your ventures during the bathroom remodeling process, look in to getting new towels as well. If your towels match your new color scheme (or old, if you?re staying the same), it will make your bathroom look more organized and not all over the place. For example, a bright orange towel hanging on the back of the door in your bathroom with a soft and dark blue color scheme, it will look incredibly out of place and unattractive to the eye. However, a grey towel that contrasts slightly with your granite vanity will certainly not seem out of place.

3. Candles Add A Soft Glow

Adding candles to any room in the house gives it a more homey touch. Adding a candle or two for less than $15 to your bathroom will do just that. If your bathroom has a theme, find a scent related to that theme. For example, if you?re going for a country cottage sort of look/feel, try a cinnamon or spice candle. If you have an beach-themed bathroom, find a candle that smells like sand on the beach or the ocean after a storm. They?re also great to use when you?re relaxing with a bath. Turn off the lights and light the candles for a more natural and easygoing atmosphere.

4. Create Picture-Perfect Walls

Photos or framed artwork will work wonders for your walls. Just be sure not to hang too many, or they may overpower your small bathroom. Staying with the beach theme, find an old photo of a family trip to the beach or from a day trip you took with a friend or two, go to a craft or home improvement store to find a frame, and finally hang it on an empty wall in your bathroom. You?re sure to have fun finding a frame that matches your color scheme or theme.

5. Add A Plant

For just a fistful of dollars at your local home improvement store, you can find yourself a decent bathroom plant. Finding them on the clearance rack is the best. They?re super cheap and easy to care for. Just because the plants are out of season doesn?t mean they won?t grow if cared for properly. And hey, if you?re like me and are far from having a green thumb, just find a fake plant to sit on the vanity or the back of your toilet. You can?t kill what?s not alive! For more bathroom decorating ideas, take a stroll through your local home improvement store, maybe even chat with a few employees to get your creative juices flowing. These bathroom decorating ideas are both cheap and easy to do and will have your bathroom turned around in no time.
